Do you have the claim blues? How do you decide when to involve your insurance company? If you have an agent that actually cares, ask. Your agent should be your advisor.
When I get asked for advice on when to submit a claim. I always slow down and look at the whole picture.
1) Look at the overall history of the policy – coverage, risks, and any outstanding notes from previous claims
2) What could the rest of the year bring for additional claims?
3) Have we asked a professional for their opinion on the damage and repair cost?
4) What is the clients deductible tolerance level?
If your current insurance agent is not slowing down to talk to you about the claim you are considering and informing you of any risks or future implications – they are not doing their job. It is YOUR policy – not theirs. Make sure you take the time to ask them questions and get all the information you need so you and your agent can make the best decision for you.
A good insurance Advisor will have your back. The 1-800 number does not cut it. Call Agent M instead!
